  • Literacy events I experienced throughout my Field Experience.

  • In my field experience, I was able to communicate with my CT about what lessons I was going to use and how I was going to engage the students. She offered me advise and it showed me how much teaching is a team effort, where we all work together and collaborate to come up with the best plan for our students.
  • Context
  • Most of the students in my field experience are ELL students. I had to adjust my teaching to account for diverse learners.
  • Task
  • I chose the text for my small group based upon their current reading level. However, I found that after I reviewed the vocabulary with them, this book was easy for them to read and they could have read a more difficult text.
  • As previously mentioned, most of the students in my CT's classroom are ELL students. This meant that I spent more time on vocabulary and reviewing the meaning of words with my students. 
  • At first the students did not want to write their paragraph for their assignment. They only wrote the bare minimum. However, after I met with them and talked to them about sentence fluency, they came around and wrote more than just a 5 sentence minimum.
