Literacy events I experienced throughout my Field Experience.
In my field experience, I was able to communicate with my CT about what lessons I was going to use and how I was going to engage the students. She offered me advise and it showed me how much teaching is a team effort, where we all work together and collaborate to come up with the best plan for our students.
Most of the students in my field experience are ELL students. I had to adjust my teaching to account for diverse learners.
I chose the text for my small group based upon their current reading level. However, I found that after I reviewed the vocabulary with them, this book was easy for them to read and they could have read a more difficult text.
As previously mentioned, most of the students in my CT's classroom are ELL students. This meant that I spent more time on vocabulary and reviewing the meaning of words with my students.
At first the students did not want to write their paragraph for their assignment. They only wrote the bare minimum. However, after I met with them and talked to them about sentence fluency, they came around and wrote more than just a 5 sentence minimum.
