Daisy vs. Self
What have I done! I'm about to marry a man that I don't even love. I'll just drink away my sorrows!
Nick vs. Friends (society)
Well, I don't usually drink but everyone else is so I guess I will too!
In the novel, Gatsby and Tom get in a fight at the hotel about who Daisy loves. Tom says that Daisy loves him, but Gatsby says that she's loved him from the beginning.
On the night before Daisy and Tom's wedding she realizes what a big mistake she's made. She received a letter from Gatsby and she realizes that she's married a man that she doesn't really love.
At Gatsby's party Nick drinks because that's what every one else is doing. You can tell that he's doing this out of peer pressure because he's only been drunk twice.
