After 3 years camp Amache closed on October 15th, 1945. Most internees stayed in the camp as long as they could. When they got out a lot of internees had lost everything. Farms, businesses, houses, etc.
In 1988 President Reagan signed the Civil Liberties Act to compensate the internees. Each surviving victim got $20,000.
