  • American Soldier
  • British Soldier
  • British Blockade
  • Invasion of Canada
  • The spending cuts had weakened the army and the navy. The soldiers were either not trained well or too old.
  • Battle of Washington
  • The British would block American ports. They did this to prevent supplies from coming into the area.
  • Battle of Baltimore
  • An American general decided to retreat, and a British general took advantage of it. It was a great loss for the Americans, as the British captured more than 2000 soldiers.
  • Battle of New Orleans 
  • The British decided to attack our nations capital. Dolley Madison, the President's wife, gathered the important papers of the White house and fled, as the British set fire to many government buildings.
  • The British bombarded Fort McHenry in Baltimore. As the night wore on, a young American wrote "The Star Spangled Banner". In the morning, Fort McHenry was still standing.
  • A treaty had been put into to place, but the news of it didn't reach Andrew Jackson until he won a huge battle at New Orleans. Jackson and the Britsh had been waging war even after the treaty was signed.
