my father has been in this country for 27 years. My mother's been here for 18. The kids at school call me a wog- i was born here miss!
i know my english isn't that good. i'd like to be able to help my dad when i leave school, and mum hasn't learn't english. she wants to go home to italy for trips, last year she took my sister to she my grandmother.
they all laugh when i tell them the name of my street Heliopolis. i think its Greece, its defiantly not Italian anyway. i watch T.V. at weekends, every night, three hours. i watch great temptation and division four. i went to an Italian funeral once. a relation died. Her was dressed in his best clothes. We all walk in and have a look, then walk out. i wasn't very interested anyway i'm Australian!
I'll leave school soon and work for me dad, i get breakfast in bed and dad drives me to school, its not like you think miss, he drives me because the kids pick on me on the way. they call me wog...but i was born here miss!!! They hide my bag under the lockers, it takes me half the morning to find it, then it gets lost in the afternoon too!
That's the best pen i could find. They took me real one. My father is a successful businessman, no. Not exactly. He's a builder, he has worked in this country nearly 30 years. He has a nice home in this suburb, but now they have moved on to an even better one, further out. Will they ever find happiness?
Some one writes in the still-wet cement of their new driveway: 'Wog go home' But i'm an Australian, miss!
