Deborah used to sit under a palm tree while the people of Israel came to her for judgment after they rebelled.
Deborah spoke to Barak and told him to gather his men. Barak told her he would only go if she went. Deborah went with him.
Deborah went with Barak to Mount Tabor. He gathered 10,000 men to follow him from these tribes, and Deborah also went with him.
Barak and his men attacked Sisera. During the battle, the Lord confused Sisera and his army. Barak and his men defeated Sisera’s army. Sisera left his chariot and ran away on foot. Not one of Sisera’s men was left alive.
Sisera ran away to the tent where a woman named Jael lived. Sisera asked Jael for a drink of water. Jael had some milk, so she gave him a and then covered him up. Jael then found a tent peg and a hammer. Sisera was sleeping, and she put the tent peg to the side of Sisera’s head and hit it with a hammer. The tent peg went through the side of his head and into the ground. Sisera died.
Barak talked to Jael and she told him that she killed Sisera. On that day God defeated King Jabin of Canaan for the Israelites. The Israelites finally destroyed him. Deborah and Barak worshipped God and sang songs to Him thanking Him for delivering them once more.
