  • The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
  • Advanced Technology
  • Aliens
  • By:     Rod Serling
  • strange powers
  • One example of advanced technology is the UFO that the aliens came in that was making the lights flicker in everyone's houses. We don't have this type of technology now so, it's an element of science fiction.
  • Related to Science
  • The second example of science fiction is the aliens. Weird things kept happening to all the people on Maple Street, and this was because of aliens that had invaded their town. Also, at the end of the play, it said "figure one" and"figure two" which were the aliens.
  • Antagonist - villian
  • The third science fiction element is strange powers. The aliens in the story could make the lights flicker and the power go out, even without a storm going on which is a strange power.
  • My car won't work!
  • Science is important to the story because the aliens came on a UFO, which is technology. Also, the aliens had strange, mysterious powers which could have been scientific as well. So, that is the fourth element of science fiction.
  • The antagonists in the story were the aliens, because they were the villains of the story. They were trying to mess up Maple Street and turn out the power, and ruin the town. That is another example of a science fiction element in the story.
