Storyboard Text

  • Act 1: Scene 2
  • I wonder what our friends are going to think when we don't show up today.
  • I didn't have any plans with anyone.
  • Act 1: Scene 3
  • Dear Diary: I expect I should describe what it feels like to go into hiding. But I don't really know yet myself. I only know it's funny never to be able to go outdoors. Never to breathe fresh air. Never to run, and shout, and jump. It's the silence in the nights that frightens me the most.
  • Act 1: Scene 5
  • I've got something... Presents!
  • Presents!?
  • It is Early morning, July 1942. The rooms are clean and orderly. Anne and Peter aren't getting along quite just yet.
  • Act 2: Scene 1
  • We came to bring you New Year's greetings.
  • Miep, have you seen Mouschi? Have you seen him anywhere around?
  • It is a little after six o'clock in the evening, two months later. Anne is not sure how being in hiding effects her yet. She only knows that nights frighten her the most.
  • Act 2: Scene 3
  • Don't you guys worry, Mr. Van Daan won't steal again. We don't need the Nazis to destroy us. We're destroying ourselves.
  • It is the first night of the Hanukkah celebration. Mr Frank is standing at the head of the table on which is the Menorah. He lights a candle and says a blessing to the family.
  • Act 2: Scene 4
  • My imagination is the only thing that has kept me sane.
  • It is the New Year. Miep and Mr. Kugler have come to give them New Year's Greetings. Anne is so grateful to see them.
  • Mr. Van Daan SHOULD HIT  THE ROAD!
  • Someone has been stealing food. And perhaps it's a very large amount , not done by a rat. Mr. Van Daan has been stealing and stuffing his face with food. But they know Mr. Van Daan will die if they kick him out.
  • Mother! Come to your senses!
  • The tension is very high. The telephone ringing makes the family so frightened that this could be the end. They reflect on their time and how difficult it has been. It is a normal Friday, yet no workers have come down below. The soliders come and they are allowed 5 minutes to pack up their things. Anne tells Miep to keep her diary safe.
  • (Frightened) I'll kill myself!
