Hi! I'm Anne! Your name is Friedrich right? Do you want to walk home with me?
Hi, Anne. Yes, I'm Friedrich and sure I'll walk home with you.
UGH! I still can't believe what they've done to our synagogue, it is just cruel! I hope we can rebuild soon!
I know, me too! It was just last week I had my bar mitzvah... this is one of the only places we had left to go to that was ours...
Who would have thought I would ever miss coming here...
Anne and Friedrich ended up at the same Jewish school. It is the end of the first day at their new school. When the bell rings, they talk for the first time. Anne is outgoing and loves meeting new people.
Don't you just love the feeling of the sun beating and the fresh air hitting your face?! Isn't it wonderful?! It keeps me feeling hopeful that one day soon, everything will be back to normal!
I sure do hope so! I miss my friends at school... I'm sure this will pass soon!
We better get home soon though, it's almost curfew. And my mom is probably going to start worrying... can't seem to catch a break with her!
Anne and Friedrich walk through what used to be a Jewish synagogue, but was destroyed since the pogroms started.
My father is probably starting to worry, too. Things have been especially tense since Mother died... Thanks for hanging out with me... It is relieving to have some time out of the house! Let's get home!
Friedrich and Anne are beginning to realize how much has been taken away from them and the other Jewish people. Now that more of their freedom has been taken away, they start to realize that even things that they would dread doing before, they should have appreciated more.
Bye Friedrich! I will see you again soon!! Come by anytime if you want to chat!!
Bye Anne, nice to meet you. I'll see you again soon.
