"This is the day the Lord will give you victory over Sisera, for the Lord is marching ahead of you.”
Deborah the prophetess married to Lapidoth, sat under a tree to give out judgments. Suddenly she called for Barak and urged him to go to battle to the Kishon River with many warriors.
Heber the Kenite had assembled a tent near the terebinth tree at Zaanaim, when word came that Barak was near Mount Tabor, Sisera gathered together all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron and marched forward to battle.
“Come, and I will show you the man you are looking for.”
"Um, okay then..."
Barak leading his 10,000 warriors down the slopes of Mount Tabor into battle. When Sissera tried to flee, Barak continued to pursue his army, killing every single one of them.
“Lord, may all your enemies die like Sisera! But may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power!”
Sisera ran away back to the tent of Jael, and met the wife of Heber the Kenite. When Sisera had asked for water, he received milk and suddenly fell asleep. She then murdered Sisera in his sleep.
In the search for Sisera, Barak had met Jael. Jael then showed Barak's dead body with the tent peg in his head. Israel was given victory by God from that day forward and continued to win through Him, finally being able to destroy King Jabin.
On that day of victory, Deborah and Barak sang a song of praise. And there was peace for the land for the next forty years.
