This scene resonated with me because a lot people do not see the capabilities of children with special needs but we should see them as any other child. We shouldn't isolate them from others but get them used to this environment and make them feel welcomed.
This scene where the organization granted Gina a bike that is worth a lot of money gave her a bike, showed how the community cared about Gina but also shows how there are many organizations that provide expensive equipment.
The scene they used an app to help Gina motivate with the coins and the music video being a reward resonated with me because it is not hard to motivate students like a music video can easily be accessible.
The presentation also emphasized the importance of motivation and repetition which is shown in this scenes.
One comment that resonated with me
I'm going back to school and get an MA on special education
Niki, the mom, decided to go study special education at Queens College to learn about the laws and be more informed about special education programs. However, many parents do not have the money to go to college so is it worth it for parents to still try to take special education courses? or are their other ways to be informed?
my second comment that resonated with me
They traveled to other countries like Ukraine and Mexico for Gina. I like how they were able to find more help in other countries but what about children's who's parents are immigrants and can't leave the country? What could they do? How would there experience differ?
my third comment that resonated with me.
The peer buddy program seemed beneficial but in both the readings and presentation, did not further explain how she started one. So what is the process of creating a peer buddy program? And could teachers start one as well?
