how I came to choose my major
through a life of teachers who believed in me led me to want to be that same inspiration for children who were like myself.
While growing up school always felt like home to me. I felt welcomed and had friends and mentors who cared about my well being. It was my escape from my home life.
My teachers (and their were many) saw talent in me that my own family looked over. They encouraged me, opened doorways for me, helped me achieve goals I never thought I could get close too and so much more.
I did not have a great at-home life and my teachers tried to make sure school was the complete opposite for me.
I knew as an adult their would be other children out there with lives like mine or even worse and I wanted to be there for them. The shoulder to lean on when in need of help and support.
I always knew I wanted to be a positive stepping stone to our future leaders lives. I wanted children to look back and remember me as I remembered my teachers who were their for me. I want children to know that no matter who they are or where they came from they can achieve anything they put their minds too.
My personal belief is that children need encouragement, love, hope, faith and a hand up in this world and its our jobs as teachers to do so. Had it not been for my past teachers I would not have known how much I love writing, education and being a mentor for younger children.
