Storyboard Text

  • There was this man who had dreamed of sending a satellite into space since he was a little kid.
  • He spent all of his time studying and learning different tactics about the differences in forces that went along with sending and flying objects into outer space.
  • He would wondered what had to be done in order to keep the satellite in a circle at a constant speed, revolving around earth.
  • He realized that earth, the moon, and the sun all had forces that would have an effect of it's motion.
  • The satellite would need to travel horizontally for 8000 meters before it would fall 5 meters vertically. This is caused by earth's curve.
  • Gravity causes the satellite to continue to orbit around earth. The orbit makes the satellite have a tangential velocity, this means that the direction of the velocity vector at any instant is in the direction of a tangent line drawn to the circle (orbit) at the object's location.
