Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • "Little late today, folks."
  • It was a summer morning in a small village. The weather was clear and sunny in the village of 300 as people began to gather in the square. It was 10 o' clock and it was evident that everyone was excited for the occasion.
  • Climax
  • Everyone came together warmly as they greeted one another and there were lots of conversation among the crowd. Families also joined together as they awaited what was being presented to them. It was time for the annual lottery that was ran by Mr. Summers.
  • Falling Action
  • No! It isn't fair! I didn't have enough time!
  • The Lottery was conducted every year. Out came the infamous black box that held papers with the names of the heads of families on them. Papers are drawn and all of the members in that family must draw out of slip of their own.
  • Resolution
  • The Hutchinson family was called. Dave, Nancy, and Billy drew their slips in that order, all having blank pieces of paper. Bill opened his and a feeling of fear fell over Tessie. Bill opened Tessie's slip for her and it had a black smudge in the middle. "It's Tessie" Mr. Summers said.
  • It's Tessie!
  • "No! It's not fair, I didn't have enough time!", Tessie exclaimed. Tessie was sentenced to death. This was not "The Lottery", but The Reverse Lottery. Whoever drew a slip with a black mark was killed for a sacrifice, so that they would have abundant crop yield.
  • Tessie cried and yelled. Everyone picked up a rock and threw it at her. A rock hit her in the head and she felt that her time had come to an end.
