  •  "But his whole life was dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness" (Achebe 13).
  • Okonkwo trying to always be strong and never show weakness.
  • Beating his wives during the Week of Peace.
  • "But Okonkwo was not the man to stop beating somebody half-way through, not even for fear of a goddess"(Achebe 30)
  • When Okonkwo accidentally killed someone and was exiled to his mother land.
