  • Siddhartha is Born
  • Prince Siddhartha had an unusual birth. After he was born rain started to fall, people say the rain was warm. The infant looked older than a year old when he was first born.
  • Royal Life
  • The king was afraid that Brahmins prediction would come true so he filled his life with wealth. Siddhartha got married at age 16 the wedding feast lasted see days. The couple was married for 13 years before they had a son.
  • The first suffering Siddhartha saw was a man that was thin and walked with the aid of a stick. The second suffering that he saw was a man crying out in pain on the ground. The third suffering that he saw was a death. The last time he went out he saw an ascetic. He wanted to become an ascetic. He told his driver to remove his royal robes, his sandals and his jewels.

  • Siddhartha Becomes Ascetic
  • Siddhartha met other ascetics on his way into the woods. He believed he could reach enlightenment through meditation. Ascetics held their breathe for long periods of time, stay awake for hours, and they fasted which meant he didn't eat for hours. Legends say that he was so skinny that if he touched his stomach he could feel his backbone.
  • Siddhartha Becomes Buddha
  • Siddhartha wanted to be balanced between extremes of pleasure and pain. He would neither be a price nor an ascetic. A full moon rose on Siddhartha
  • The Founder Siddhartha was the founder. This is the story that people that are Buddhist believe in. 
  • Teachings Siddhartha was taught that people age they get sick and then they eventually die. But, he thought he could get rid of that by becoming ascetic.
  •  Where it Began It began in India. India is where this story took place.
