Storyboard Text

  • On Page 128 " They would have killed me said Montag, swaying, the air still torn and stirring about him in dust, touching his bruised cheek. For no reason at all in the world they would have killed me.,
  • In the book Beatty told Montag that the books were burned because EVERYONE had a problem with the content in them. However it was probably only the minoritys that had a problem with the books.
  • In dystopian books citizens are oppressed
  • Knowledge is Power - The books in fahrenheit 451 were the knowledge but the government took it away from citizens by burning books.
  • The Citizens in Fahrenheit 451 are kept from the truth by the government
  • "So! A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it."
  • In Fahrenheit 451 people are forced to obey the governments laws
  • This quote explains how the society in Fahrenheit 451 has to obey the laws the government places on them or else their house is burned and they could die.
  • "The whole house is going up, said Beatty."
  • Bradbury used this element of dystopians to show how people in the society do not value life as we do today. They didn't care if they killed Montag and society didn't care that Clarrisse died
  • The society in Fahrenheit 451 dehumanizes it's people
  • "You heave them into the parlor and turn the switch.  It's like washing clothes..... They'd just as soon kick me as kiss me. Thank God I can kick back."
  • Everyone in society thinks that everything is good and it is perfect
  • In this quote they think that the standard of treating your kids terribly and not loving them is normal and OK.
  • This quote from page 74 shows that nobody wants to be arrested or get confronted by anyone with authority.  Nobody will also stand up for what they believe which is what happened with Faber
  • "The old man leapt up as if to run. And Montag said wait. I haven't done anything."
  • Only a couple of people openly question society
