Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • The narrator wishes to prove his saneness to the audience/readers because he killed a man over his deformed eye.
  • Conflict
  • The narrator had lived in the same building as the old man. He had a very disturbing eye. The narrator said it looked deformed, or like a vultures eye with a film covering it.
  • Rising Action
  • The next eight days the narrator plans the old mans death to get rid of the eye. Every night the narrator goes into the old mans room with a lantern until he sees the old mans eye.
  • Climax
  • Finally, one day the old man woke up and just started screaming. Then the narrator smothered the man with his mattress until he could no longer here the old mans heart beating.
  • Falling Action
  • The police arrive, saying that someone reported a scream. But the narrator tries to cover up the situation by saying that it was his scream and that the old was away somewhere out of town.
  • An finally the story ends when the narrator believes he hears a ticking noise that gets louder by the second. He believed that it was the old mans heart beating and finally confessed to the police.
  • Resolution
