"The Corn Planting" Sherwood Anderson/One of the most influential American writers of the first half of the twentieth century. Kendaijon Wade 6th Period 5-3-18
The main character's name is Hatch Hutcherson. Hatch was the only son. He worked the plantation until his father died. Hatch died at the end
The story starts at the family farm. Hatch's son Will went to live in Chicago. Will meet a guy named hal and they became good friends.
Will Hutchenson died in a car wreck. Hatch saw two clad figures at the farm. Will had wrote a note to them.
The story ends with Hatch reading the note from Will. Hatch and his wife still have all the letters Will wrote from college. They were making arrangements to bring their son home.
The theme of this story is sad and depressing. I was shocked when I read that will had died. Will would have probably been alive if he hadn't been drinking and driving
