Yes! Not seperate!
The war went back and forth for 2 years between North and South Korea.
Macarthur critisized president trumans policies, so Truman fired him. He was replaced by Gen. Omar Bradley.

Then, the south pushed back
Gen. MacArthur ignored warnings from China to stop advancing, and supported a fight against the Communist chinese and the use of nuclear weapons.
Over the last 2 years of the war, a stalemate developed. Eisenhower ended up signing a truce that left korea where it started, at the 38th parallel. Communist forces were contained and sent a strong message that the U.S. woulddefend against the spread of communism.
