The black death was a disease caused by bacteria that killed million. peasants were an easy target because where they lived it was filthy and not sanitary.

Shortly after the black death, many started to question if the church even have power since it couldn't stop the plague. Now people started believing in humanism which Focuses on human accomplishments, and less on religion. This would bring a new Era called the Renaissance or Rebirth of Europe.
