  • Stanley sees himself as the provider and head of the household. "Greasy-Vulgar- them kind of word have been on your tongue... What do you think you are? A pair of queens?"
  • The first comment given by Stanley is significant because the quote shows that Stanley wants to be the head of the household.
  • "In the doorway, he takes off his shirt in front of Blanche."
  • Every time Stanley would take off his shirt in front of others, especially woman, it was to show his masculinity and role as the head.
  • The author uses Stanley character to portray how men played a dominate role in the households. During the time this play was set in, males was seen to be superior to their wives.
