  • The Cold War was not an actual physically fought war but more of a war between the different ideas of the Soviet Union and the United States.
  • After World War II they were not united in a common goal so they no longer had a reason to tolerate each others different ideologies on politics.
  • The two nations alliance had always but a rough one. The Soviet Union had refused to follow the alliance agreement forged by the allies.  
  • the tension grew when the soviets rejected the offer of the Marshall plan from the US. They feared what would come of the aid with the US in charge of their economy. 
  • with the two countries extremely different political views it was no surprise they had such
