In Denmark, two soldiers notice a green ghost who appears to be the ghost of the late King Hamlet.
The ghost (late king Hamlet) appears to Hamlet and tells him that he was murdered by Claudius
Hamlet plans out a way to prove that Claudius had killed his father. Eventually, he gathers a group of travelling actors to re-enact this as a play in front of Claudius
Claudius leaves the play and prays for forgiveness for killing Hamlet's father. Hamlet had overheard his prayers, but wouldn't kill him while he was praying because he will go to heaven. Hamlet then
Hamlet notices that someone is eavesdropping on his conversation with his mother, and kills him. Hamlet had ended up killing Polonius (Laertes' and Ophelia's father). As a result of Polonius' death, Ophelia drowns.
Laertes blames Hamlet for his father's and sister's death, and a duel is arranged. Both Laertes and Hamlet are wounded, and Gertrude accidentally drinks from a poisoned cup that Claudius made for Hamlet.
