  • Why do I have to pay more taxes than the rich?
  • I work harder than the nobles but I still get taxed more.
  • My children and I are starving!
  • How am I suppose to support my family?
  • Eh, I don't really want to deal with political stuff at the moment.
  • The Third Estate (commoners) declares that the Old Regime is not allowing them to be treated with equality.
  • We aren't leaving until we get what we want!
  • Give us our new constitution!
  • When there was crop failure in France, the price of bread increased where the commoners and peasants couldn't even afford one loaf and that change angered the Third Estate.
  • We won't be killed by the foreign soldiers!
  • Let's kill them all!
  • Louis was indecisive and he hated dealing with the government. In addition, Louis paid little attention to his advisors
  • How am I suppose to worship my lord and creator?
  • I am Catholic and nothing can change that.
  • This was when the Third Estate was locked out of the royal palace and pledged to stay where they were until they received a new constitution.
  • There were rumors that foreign soldiers were going to invade Paris. So, the people began to gather weapons to defend themselves. Additionally, they raided the -Bastille, a prison, where they acquired more weapons and gunpowder.
  • The National Assembly suppressed many religious communities and reduced the number of priests and bishops. In result, the people were mad because they were deeply loyal to Catholicism.
