When settlers moved to Texas they took their slaves with them which the Mexican Government had banned them from doing. As a result the Mexican Government restricted American immigration and tried to enforce the ban on slavery.
Settlers in Texas ignored may Mexican laws that the Mexican government had given them as a condition for them moving into Mexico. One law they did not follow was the banishment of slavery. Many of the settlers in Texas were slave holders and refused to give up their slaves upon arrival in Texas.

A month after the first Texan revolt Texan met and formed a temporary government which pledged to overthrow Santa Anna. They quickly captured two towns and occupied an old Franciscan mission called the Alamo.
-A group of Texans occupied the Alamo -Santa Anna's Army marched rapidly toward San Antonio outraged at news of the defeats -Santa Anna surrendered at the Alamo for 13 days before the attack came. -The Texans were massivley outnumbered at then defeated.
