Storyboard Text

  • What do you know about the Cell Theory?
  • I didn't even know there was a theory  behind cells!
  • This is a really weird first date...
  • You know nothing about the Cell Theory at all?
  • Nope, nothing. I know that we're made of cells, but that's about it.
  • I guess I have to start from the very beginning of the Cell Theory, then.
  • Oh boy, here we go.
  • Dr. Robert Hooke discovered cells in 1665 while looking at a slice of cork under a microscope.
  • He also drew the first drawing of a cell, and this discovery changed the way we thought about what things were made of forever.
  • He named them cells after the Latin word cellula, which meant "small compartment."
  • Soon after, other scientists expanded on this theory, like Anton van Leeuwenhoek with his discovery of bacteria and protazoa.
  • Ugh...
  • Ugh what? I feel like this was a very educational date!
  • Dates aren't supposed to be educational!
