Franklin gives Wilkins a note of a funeral service that will be held in honor of all his research. This was done in front of all their colleagues in the college, embarrassing Wilkins.
Wilkins is building up hatred towards Franklin and is having a hard time dealing with his research not being recognized. The fact that Franklin is a woman also makes it more difficult for him to cope.
Franklin discovers that Wilkins and her's research actually supports the helix shape of DNA. Wilkins wants to publish this right away, but Franklin shoots him down and demands that they wait for her to do more research and compile more data.
Watson and Wilkins run into each other shortly after Watson was practically forced out of a meeting with Franklin. The two of them quickly became good friends as they both did not like Franklin.
Wilkins decides to reveal his and Franklin's private research and data about their findings in the structure of DNA. This is done in secret without Franklin's consent.
Wilkins, Watson, and Crick go on to win the Nobel Prize in 1962. However, Franklin passed away four years earlier and even if she would have been considered, the Nobel Prize is not awarded to anyone deceased.
