  • After the american victory at Saratoga Washinton asked Rochambeau to help out his fighting force.
  • Come Help us out?
  • Hmmm...
  • Rochambeau agrees to help General Washinton and trains the American army to be an elite fighting force as well as loaning some french fleets and soldiers.
  • OK!
  • Patriots blocked off the British by land and french fleets  blocked off the British by sea.  This means that the Americans made a complete blockade around Yorktown, VA
  • After almost 11 days of battling, and running low on supplies, General Cornwallis surrendered to the Americans. On October 19, 1771 Cornwallis signed the British surrender and it was official that the Americans had won the war.
  • YAAAY!!!
  • We Surrender!!!
  • But the treaty of Paris wasn't signed until September 3, 1783. This declared America as an independent nation and stopped Americans from harassing loyalist.
