Storyboard Text

  • Personification
  • Rhyme
  • Simile
  • "By the trembling ladder, steep and tall." This shows personification because the author gave the ladder a human quality that it doesn't have. This quote is saying that the ladder is trembling which a ladder can't do.
  • Metaphor
  • "He said to his friend, 'If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch." This shows rhyme because the two words march and arch rhyme with each other.
  • Alliteration
  • "Across the moon like a prison bar". This shows a simile because it is comparing the ship and a prison bar using the word
  • Symbolism
  • "Wrapped in silence so deep and still" This is comparing silence to a blanket all around you without using like or as.
  • "Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet" The words fliying, fearless, and fleet all start with the letter f showing alliteration
  • "And the spark struck out by that steed, in its flight, kindled the land into flame with its heat" The spark is symbolizing the start of the American Revolution and Paul Rever's ride.
