  • Due to the conflict between the government and the North West Resistance the Canadian Pacific Railway was able to be completed.
  • The construction of the railway was going no where due to lack of funds, but due to the Metis Resistance the government was able to find a way to increase funds.
  • The government pushed the necessity of the railway as a means to control the Metis rebels.
  • The people were urged to fear the Metis and funds for the railway appeared, in hopes that troops could be sent out at a faster rate.
  • The death of Louis Riel had quite an impact in the development of Canada, and specifically on the Metis people.
  • The people left behind were forced to make hard decisions and find a way to move on.
