Texas v. Johnson (1989)
The people were protesting and arguing about who will be the next president so during the protest a man in the name Georgy Johnson broke a Texas Law.
Georgy broke theTexas Law by lighting an American flag on fire while protesting and was sentenced a whole year in prison and fined 2,000 dollars.
Georgy Johnson took the case to the supreme court and said ''the burning of a flag is protected by the first amendment and is a way of expressing speech."
The Supreme court couldn't argue since the burning of a flag was protected by the first amendment so,
The Supreme Court agreed.
