The students will be taken to an area with lots of trees to determine the trail the "Peppermint Beetle" takes.
The students will then go from tree to tree smelling them and determining what scent they find and they will mark them with the appropriate string.
Once all of the trees have been marked the students will get together and discuss why they think the Peppermint Beetle chose that path.
Once they are back in the classroom they will smell different containers with different scented cotton balls in them.
They will then relate those scents to past experiences as well as real life objects.
The students will then explain to the class what some of the scents reminded them of and why scent is important.
