Romeo crashes the Capulet party and while he is there he discovers Juliet. While Romeo is captivated by Juliet, Tybalt suspects that he is a Montague and plans to kill Romeo for crashing the party.
After the Capulet party, Romeo goes to see Juliet. In this scene Juliet questions why it as to be a Montague named Romeo who she is so deeply in love with. This thickens the plot because they both decide they want to pursue a relationship even if it causes drama between the families.
When Tybalt finally decides to get his revenge on Romeo for attending the Capulet party, Romeo assures him that there is a good reason why Tybalt should not kill him. Mercutio decides that if Romeo won't fight Tybalt, then he will. Mercutio draws his sword, but ends up getting stabbed by Tybalt.
