  • EXPOSITION
  • Together we will read, over and over again the same page of the Zohar. Not to learn it by heart but to discover within the very essence of dignity. 
  • CONFLICT
  • Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith foever. 
  • RISING ACTION
  • The student of Talmud, the child I was had been consumed by the flames. All that was left was a shape that resembled me My soul had been invaded- and devoured- by a black flame. 
  • This quote demonstrates Elies initial perspective in regards to religion. It presents a sort of devotion which he has toward God. 
  • CLIMAX
  • Blessed be Gods name? Why, but why would I bless Him? Every fiber in me rebelled. 
  • Eliezerś struggles with nazi persecution, and with his own faith in god and in humanity. 
  • FALLING ACTION
  • In the midst of these men assembled for prayer, I felt like an observer, a stranger. 
  • Eliezer's journey through the various concentration camps and the subsequent deterioration of his father and himself. 
  • RESOLUTION
  • And in spite of myself, a prayer formed inside me, a prayer to this God in whom I no longer believed in. 
  • The death of Eliezer's father 
  • The liberation of the concentration camps, the time spent in silence between Eliezers liberation and Elie Wiesels decision to write about his experience, referred to in the memoir when Eliezer jumps to events that ahppned after the Holocaust. 
  • The American troops liberated Buchenwald and Wiesel eas among prisoners that were liberated. By the time he was free, he lost his father, mother and youngest sisiter. He ended up in the hospial after becoming ill with food posining , he saw his reflection in the mirrior for the fist time since being imprisonised in the camps.  What he saw was a corpse looking backat him saw himself as a dead man who was a survivor.
