Conservation Comic: Oil Spills
This storyboard does not have a description.
The reason why I chose this problem is because oil spills affect the ocean's marine life in many ways. Whenever there's an oil spill tons of fish, plants, and other marine life are bound to die. When oil spills into the water there's tiny bits of oil that fish and plants consume. Oil spills can also affect people in many different ways also. One of those ways is because we also eat fish. This affects us because the oil could still be in the fish when we eat it, which can cause us to get sick as well. The second way is because it also affects the water we drink. It affects our water supply because there's different bodies of water that leads into the ocean. That means that the oil can also flow into those bodies of water where would get our water from.
How can we reduce/contain these oil spills? There's many different ways to reduce/contain these oil spills. One of those ways is to use chemical dispersants to break down the oil. Once the oil starts to break down tiny particles of oil start to sink to the bottom of the ocean. One of the other ways of this is simply buy just burning the oil.
