Setting: Small town in the Midwest
Protagonist: Tessie Hutchenson
Antagonist: The Villagers
The Small town wasn't described in the book but I imagined a small town in the Midwest were the laws are very different and they play by there own rules. "The people of the village began to gather in the square, between the post office and the bank, around ten o'clock; in some towns there were so many people that the lottery took two days"
Tessie Hutchinson is the wife of Bill Hutchinson. She is the only female against the Lottery, when her families name is called out in the Lottery, she says"It isn't fair, it isn't right," Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her."r she tells her ideas about the lottery and is silenced when she is stoned to death in the end.
The Villagers are friendly in the beginning of the story and aren't evil. Everybody is scared for their lives in the village, they turn on Tessie when her name is called they stone her and kill her when she try to speak up in the village about there ideas and how they should stop old tradition. "A stone hit her on the side of the head. Old Man Warner was saying, "Come on, come on, everyone." Steve Adams was in the front of the crowd of villagers, with Mrs. Graves beside him."
