Hey, mom! What´s an eclipse?
An eclipse is the partial or total blocking of one object in space by another.
Then, what´s a solar eclipse?
A solar eclipse is the blocking of sunlight to Earth that occurs when the moon is directly between the sun and Earth. You must stand in the umbra to view it. If you are in the penumbra, you see a partial solar eclipse.
Then why are we wearing these special sunglasses to view it?
We wear these sunglasses because the UV rays from the moon and sun are so powerful our eyes can become destroyed and lose our eyesight.
Can we get ice cream now?
