  • Theme
  • Wow. I made a big mistake. But I will fix this!
  • In this story Jared is the protagonist; he's the main character. He is the second best on the track team and constantly fighting with his enemy, Austin. He starts this idea with his best friend, Cheryl, to make the shadow club. It involves all the second best in the school to get back at the number one best in the school. Including pranks and awful things toward the other. But in the end learns to be nice to everyone.
  • Cheryl said, " We were in stitches, laughing so hard our stomachs began to hurt. "(pg 86)
  • Austin is the antagonist. He is Jared's enemy in the book. They are always competing in track for the look of being number one and the fastest. Austin is very rude to Jared though. He constantly wins and makes fun of him for it, which makes sense why Jared is so mad all the time.
  • Jared says, “It was a big deal. Everyone knows about it…We all got suspended from school and now we have to pay for everything we did.” (pg 194)
  • Well, I guess no school.
  • Nothing good comes from hatred. In the book, Shadow club, Jared and Cheryl learned that it wasn't okay to pull those mean pranks on people supposedly better than you. Even though you may not like them it wont fix anything to do that to someone.
  • Darren states, “We were going to stop but a gigantic wave came and we couldn’t find Tyson. " ( 179-80)
  • Tyson! Where are you!?
  • This shows figurative language because its a metaphor. Metaphors are an example of figurative language. A metaphor is when a word or phrase is used to an action when its not literal. Which in the quote, they don't actually have stitched.
  • This shoes Irony. Its ironic how they thought everything was fine and they would never get caught. In the end the ended up caught and in trouble though; including getting suspended.
  • This is an example of suspense. It makes you wonder if they'll find him. Will he be okay?
