  • Located in the northwest region of modern China, the taklamakan desert was known for having oases that were used as trading spots. It was a very dangerous trade route due to harsh weather and deadly animals. Merchant caravans would often spread their ideas and culture to the cities they made stops in.

  • Kunlun mountains
  • The kunlun mountains was a system of mountains throughout southern Central Asia. The main goods traded through here were wool and salt. There was many rivers with great value that were discovered later on. This was very important since it was a main connection for south and Central Asia.
  • Pamir mountains
  • The pamir mountains spread from kashgar through kokand. It is referred to as “the roof of the world” due to it being made up of some of the highest mountains. Silk, cotton,spices,gold,and more were traded through pamir mountains. All of these routes had a great affect on the advancements made in China since it spreaded culture & helped Han dynasty flourish.
