  • Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1856.
  • At age 42, Teddy was the youngest president to assume the office
  • One act passed during Roosevelt's presidency was the New-lands Act. This act said that the money profited from the sale of lands in the west would go to irrigation project
  • As president, Roosevelt is most popularly known for breaking up many trusts monopolies which allowed large corporations to have low wages while still bringing in a lot of money.
  • Roosevelt passed another food safety act, known as the Pure Food and Drug act. This act dealt with false advertising of products such as food and medicine. It stopped the sell off products contaminated with dangerous chemicals and said labels must be truthful.
  • Teddy Roosevelt's presidency endowed the progressive movement with credibility, lending the prestige of the White House to welfare legislation, government regulation, and the conservation movement. His programs were based on the desire to make society more fair and equitable, with economic possibilities for all Americans.
