Storyboard Text

  • Please take this "medium of exchange" to help your struggling country
  • Thank you! We are hoping to escape the poverty cycle.
  • This is exactly what I needed!
  • Use the money wisely!
  • Thank you fearless leader!
  • Foreign Aid is when a leader makes a deal with another leader providing assistance. There are many types of forms of aid, but in this cartoon, I decided to use money.
  • They will never know!
  • Nothing has changed!
  • The provider of the foreign aid believes the money can make a difference in the underdeveloped nation. It seems like she is doing this out of the kindness of her heart, but she is more concerned with gaining an ally.
  • We are still only recieving the normal conditions!
  • The leader makes sure to give the foreign aid to the citizens, but not all of it.
  • Oh your back! How's everything going after you used the money?
  • It's not going well, but that's the plan.
  • Some leaders are corrupt and will keep some of the money for themselves. The leader has no incentive to improve the standard of living for his citizens. He knows that money will continue to flow because aid intensifies disaster and so on.
  • Even though his people might be suffering...
  • the leader has become dependent on the foreign aid. He has taken advantage of the other countries generosity and his people continue to struggle. This type of foreign aid benefits the leader and punishes poor civilians.
