Benjamin Banneker was a mathematician, an astronomer, and a writer. He was born on November 9, 1731, in Ellicott's Mills, Maryland. His maternal grandmother taught him to read but he was mostly self taught.
He was a free - born descendant of slaves and he became famous. He was an astronomer, mathematician, and a surveyor.
Benjamin Banneker predicted the eclipse for April 14, 1789. And on that date it happened and Benjamin Banneker became famous.
