Ex. xn = nx n−1 x−1 = −1x−1−1 = −x−2
The product of the exponent times x with the exponent reduced by 1 is the derivative of a power x which is known as Power Rule.
The quantity of the denominator times the derivative of the numerator minus the numerator times the derivative of the denominator all over the denominator squared.
Ex. x to the 5th power over x to the 2 power
Negative Exponent Rule
Exponents with an negative sign are called negative exponents.
