  • George Washington was the Patriot commander at the battle of Yorktown
  • Charles Cornwallis was the British commander at the battle of Yorktown
  • This is how the battle was fought. 
  • The Patriots won the battle!
  • The British were outnumbered, and they couldn't leave because the French were blocking them. Soon, they realized they couldn't escape, and the war was too costly to pursue. Charles Cornwallis surrendered and the war was over. America was it's own country!
