The song starts off at a piano dynamic and an andante tempo This is when Peter finds an old castle. He is excited to explore it and begins walking up the long trail
Once inside, Peter starts to explore the castle. He is fascinated by everything he sees. In the music, we hear a slight crescendo up to mezzo piano, however the tempo is still andante.
The tempo of the music starts to pick up, moving to an Allegro pace. This represents Peter's mood. The more he explores, the more excited he gets!
Suddenly, Peter sees a large troll sitting in the main hall. He is terrified as the troll has an angry look on its face. Peter realizes that he is not wanted in the castle and he begins to run
The music is getting faster and faster until we reach a Vivace tempo. This represents the troll chasing Peter through each room of the castle
Peter just barely escapes and the gate slams shut behind him. Peter collapses just outside the gate. The troll slams into the gate, banging on the door - This is where we hear those three loud bangs at the end of the music. Peter is terrified that the troll will break through. Peter hears one last loud BANG - and then silence. Peter is safe, but he vows to NEVER go near the castle again.
