Once Walter and Bennie exit, their mother enters the kitchen wondering what all the fuss was about. Ruth tells her about the plan that Walter had with the money.Mama says that they're not business people but she doesn't seem to like that idea much.
Mama tells Ruth that she has a big check coming tomorrow- 10,000 dollars. She says that Ruth should take a vacation and get away from the family for a while.
