Scientifically equillibrium can be achieved in an ecosyststem with limited amounts of light heat energy and carbon.
As often as light and heat is added into the limited ecosystem there is no escape for that heat and as a result the same amount of light and heat creates Co2 and does not allow for the carbon to vacate the model ecosystem in this example the yellow arrows represent the light and heat being alotted by nature into the limited space.The red circles represent the amount of carbon that is not able to leave the space.
Equillibrium is disrupted by the opening of the model ecosystem and or the blockading of light/heat being alotted into the model ecosystem . Or the amount of things inside of the ecosystem that can obsorb the carbon.
