  • The storming of Bastille occurred when rumors spread that Swiss soldiers paid by King Louis were going to attack French citizens. A angry mob wanted to get gunpowder for their weapons in order to defend the city. The angry mob captured Bastille, a Paris prison.
  • King Louis XVI's wife, Marie Antoinette was a big spender and was disliked. The government owed money so her spending was a problem. Louis decided to tax the nobles and kept taxes high and profits low.
  • King Louis XVI was a weak and unconcerned leader. When France needed money he tried to tax the nobles. He was the King until the fall of the monarchy occurred.
