I am Governor John Smith, white America's first authentic hero! Here is my story.
A cruel storm put us northward at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
20 or 30 came abord the land, but were assaulted by Native Americans at pistol range.
Shortly after Captain Gosnold fell ill, he died. Then Captain Ratcliffe became sick, but lived by God's assistance. By September 10th, around 46 men had died.
The Native Americans brought us fresh bread and corn, while many of our men were still weak.
On June 2nd, 1608, we are in peace with the Indians and remaining in good health.
